Thunder Rosa has been on the shelf with a back injury since August 2022. The injury as well as the uncertainty regarding when she will return caused Rosa to relinquish the AEW Womens World Championship.

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Rosa stated that she will be back on the road with AEW soon, but wont be returning to the square circle just yet. She said,

Since were talking about AEW, Im probably going to be coming back on the road pretty soon. Not to wrestle, but were going to be out at AEW and showing face and being around all this stuff. Its going to be nice to be around everyone and see how things unfold.
