GERMANY secured a 1-0 win over Oman before the World Cup - but the score line doesnt tell the entire story.

Kai Havertz fluffed his lines twice before Leroy Sanes saw his dipping free-kick superbly saved by Ibrahimi Al Mukhaini.

Young German forward Youssoufa Moukoko came close too as his strike hit the post just before half-time.

And it was relentless pressure from Hansi Flicks side all through-out the second half.

But Niclas Fullkrugs late strike broke the dead-lock following a fancy flick from Kai Havertz.

A tough night in Muscat comes to an end with the four-time World Cup winners victorious.

The whistle is blown on a nervy German performance which sees Flicks men come out on top, but it was no easy feat.

Fullkrug got the all important goal, rolling the ball past the goalkeeper with ten minutes left on the clock.

Al Mukhaini kept his side in it at times, making a couple of great saves against Fullkrug and Kehrer. But the German pressure proved too much in the end.

Oman can hold their heads high. They were better than Germany for large periods of the game, creating clear-cut chances which they simply couldnt convert.

Al-Aghbari really caught the eye for the hosts, running the Germany defenders ragged for 90 minutes.

90+2, A swift Germany move finds Brandt who sweeps an excellent ball forward to Sane who looked to have the chance to finish the job.

After getting the ball caught under his feet, he attempts to find Fullkrug at the back post, but hits the ball from one foot on to the other. That just about sums up his night.

90, The board has gone up for four added minutes here.

90, Oman opt to make a double change.

Al Yahmadi and Al Aghbari, who has been excellent this evening, make way.

85, That goal looks to have woken Germany up a little. The players are combining well, with decent runs being made off the ball.

A chance falls to Sane on the half-volley, but he can only connect with thin air. Not been his night by any stretch.

83, Fullkrug looked to have his second goal in three minutes but the flag is promptly raised against him.

Havertzs initial effort was parried into his path, before tapping home into an empty net.

On the replays, there was very little in it.

Havertz flicks the ball past his man and pokes a pass through to Fullkrug who made no mistake, rolling the ball past the keeper to open the scoring in Muscat.

It will feel like a hammer-blow to Oman who have had the chances to go in front themselves.

78, There is a break in play for the players to rehydrate. Flick issues some instructions to a tired looking group of players.

76, Abd Raboh shrugs Bella-Kotchap off the ball with ease, but the German defender recovers well with a last stitch sliding challenge just as he was lining up to shoot.

You could see Al Yahyaeis idea from the free-kick, bending it over to the on-running Al Harthi. But the ball in had just too much on it.

It begs the question, what on earth will Hans Flick think of this performance. It might make Germany fans a little more nervous.

Oman with the best chance of the match.

Gunter is caught in possession and the ball is fed to Abd Robah who had the whole goal to aim at, but hooks his effort wide from five yards. Agonisingly close to taking the lead.

70, Al Aghbari picks Havertzs pocket and surges forward, too quick for the German defenders.

He has the awareness to pick out Abd Raboh in the box, but Schlotterbeck is positioned well to intercept.

68, Germany have started to stamp their authority on the match, moving the ball with a bit more urgency.

Oman will have to weather this storm.

66, Brandt is involved immediately, thundering an effort narrowly wide of the post.

65, Flick makes a change presumably to preserve the fitness of Gundogan. Brandt is on in his place.

63, Gunter whips in a ball on to the head of Fullkrug, but the substitute had wandered offside.

61, Omans turn to make some changes.

Abd Raboh is on for Al Subhi up front.

Hofmann drills a low ball across the box and Fullkrug got a touch, but a deflection takes it behind for a corner.

58, Its all Oman now. Al Yahmadi attempts to tease a ball over the top to Al Subhi, but Neuer is out quickly off his line.

55, Magical by Al Aghbari! The midfielder plays a back-heel one-two pass through the legs of Kehrer before glding past Bella-Kotchap.

He looks to place an effort, which takes a nick off Schlotterbeck, and into the side netting.

Kehrer collects the ball in a messy six-yard box and pokes one on target.

Al Mukhaini sticks a leg out to deny Germany an opener. Great reactions from the 25-year-old.

A mistake by Oman sets Fullkrug through on goal and the keeper just throws an arm at it, parrying it over for a corner.

51, Gundogan sends an awkward bouncing effort on goal. Al Mukhaini spilled it, but no one in maroon had gambled, allowing the keeper to regather possession.
